How can Botox help me?
When applied in the right area by a skilled practitioner, Botox is highly effective. It works by blocking the signals that travel from your nerves to your muscles. When this happens, the muscles surrounding your wrinkles relax. This leads to smoother looking skin and less pronounced wrinkles. In some cases, you can use it as a prophylactic measure — one of the contributing factors to wrinkle formation in muscle usage. As Botox relaxes your muscles, you use them less; this leads to a slower external ageing process.
WHAT IS BOTOX AND WHICH AREAS OF WRINKLES IS IT USEFUL FOR?
As a toxin that’s produced by the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum, Botox® is a safe therapy used for cosmetic purposes. Most patients use it to address wrinkles. However, it’s also useful for stopping conditions such as excessive sweating.
WHAT CAN BOTOX TREAT?
Botox is a very flexible treatment and has a wide range of different applications including:
- Crow’s feet
- Laughter lines around the mouth
- Wrinkles on the brow
- Slimming your jaw muscles
- Sagging necklines
- Reducing excessive sweating
IS BOTOX SAFE?
In the hands of a medically trained practitioner, Botox is exceedingly safe. To ensure you remain safe before and during each treatment, Dr Dhesi will assess you before writing your Botox prescription.
However, certain patients cannot receive Botox. They include:
- Pregnant and breastfeeding women
- Those with particular neurological conditions
- People who have had a severe reaction to Botox in the past
- People taking certain medications
- People taking Warfarin, or other blood thinners
It is for these reasons that we perform a full assessment of you and your medical history before administering Botox.
