IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL SAFE?
Laser hair removal has been a popular procedure since it was first introduced in the 1980's. The technology behind this treatment continues to improve, allowing more people from all ages, genders, skin tones and skin colour to access, hair removal at an affordable price with minimal downtime. Laser Hair Removal is now quicker than ever before as well! In addition to that, it is much more effective than other methods like shaving or waxing or depilatory creams. This treatment can be done on any part of the face and body, for example the bikini line, upper lip, legs, chest and back to name but a few.
SAFE PERMANENT HAIR REMOVAL
The only thing more embarrassing than unwanted hair is the stigma attached to it. From being prematurely hairy, unruly hair growth ,or ingrown hairs the last thing that anyone wants is to look unsightly. This is especially true in the modern era of Zoom, Facetime and video conferencing. There are plenty of options available for removing all those pesky hairs; however, some may be easier said than done when you're faced with multiple areas of hair growth that refuse to go away no matter what method has been used so far. This is why treatments should be performed by trained laser hair removal practitioners who understand the skin and hair type, the hair structure including the hair shaft anatomy and most importantly the hair growth cycle. We often get asked by patients about laser hair removal treatments which is why we refer to our clinic partners Calveo - laser hair removal specialists.
Laser hair removal treatment is a powerful and effective way to permanently rid yourself of unwanted facial or body hairs. The process targets the hair follicle which means from the hair shaft down, ensuring that every follicle has been treated by photo thermolysis! The best part? You can enjoy an aesthetically pleasing result i.e. smooth skin without having any side effects - it's hassle free AND safe to thanks in large measure because of the use of selective photo thermolysis technology which makes sure only the targeted hair follicles get heated up enough so as not damage surrounding structures like pores while reducing laser incidence on these sensitive areas. Our clinic partners Calveo have both a Lumenis Sheer desire and Venus Epileve diode lasers that are safe to use on all skin types including darker skin. A question that we often get asked is "does laser hair removal hurt?" We posed this question to Lorna Trigg's the owner of Calveo and she advised that although laser hair removal treatment can be uncomfortable...think rubber band hitting the skin, the overall process does not hurt and any discomfort is well worth the feeling of smooth skin after permanent hair reduction. Calveo, often advise that dark hair responds best to laser hair removal as light-colored hair does not absorb energy as well. For these clients, Calveo often offers their bespoke derma-planing package to remove unwanted hair.

SO IS DIODE LASER REMOVAL THE BEST?
When it comes to the best laser hair removal devices, you can't really go wrong with Diode Laser Hair Removal. The process is safe for patients of all skin types and colors because only dark-pigmented follicles are targeted by this type of technology. This ensures that surrounding tissue will remain unharmed while preventing any changes in skin color. Unlike other laser treatments that use intense pulsed light in clinic, the Diode Laser Hair Removal Device emits a wavelength of light that is gentle enough to be used on any skin type without damaging the surrounding tissue. The skin's surface remains intact, only the hair follicle is treated and their is minimal skin reaction.
The Lumenis Sheer Desire and Venus Epileve at Calveo are devices that have been found to be extremely effective in permanently removing hair from all areas of the body, including the bikini line, legs, underarms, back and the face. It is also an excellent choice for patients with dark skin types because it uses a wavelength of light that targets melanin in the hair follicle but won't change any surrounding pigmentation.
Laser treatments are fast, effective ways to permanently remove unwanted body or facial hair leaving you feeling smooth all over.
Laser hair removal is a safe and effective way to permanently remove unwanted body or facial hair, leaving you feeling smooth all over. The best part? Laser treatments are fast and there's usually very little downtime involved so you can get back on with your day after just an hour! Laser technology offers long-lasting results for people of all skin types with minimal discomfort.
LET'S TALK ABOUT THE HAIR FOLLICLES
Let's break it down. Laser hair removal works by passing light or heat through the skin to damage or destroy targeted areas of cells like those areas that contain melanin i.e. in the hair follicle, without damaging surrounding tissue. The laser selectively targets dark colors while leaving lighter areas of skin undamaged, intact skin surface and with minimal skin reaction.
Any skin damage caused by lasers is minimal compared to other methods of hair removal. It usually takes several treatments because it only targets the pigment in existing hairs allowing many cycles of regrowth before noticeable or significant reduction occurs. Although electrolysis destroys every hair with a single treatment the treatment is slow, expensive, and inconvenient to the patient. Also electrolysis may be painful for some people particularly if performed on sensitive areas like the genitals or anal areas.
LONG TERM BENEFITS OF LASER HAIR REMOVAL IS THAT IT LASTS LONGER THAN OTHER METHODS OF HAIR REMOVAL
The removal of hairs by laser has distinct benefits over other methods such as waxing, shaving and plucking. Lasers remove hair from the root, so the regrowth is finer and sparser over time. In addition, it can be used on any part of the body including delicate areas such as the bikini line and underarms. The skin may feel a little tender after treatment but this usually resolves within a few hours. The treated area may have a pinkish appearance for several days. The skin is more susceptible to sun damage after laser hair removal, so be sure to use sunscreen that protects against both UVA and UVB rays as well as reapply regularly if spending time outdoors. In addition avoid the sun between the hours of ten in the morning until four in the afternoon.
BEST WAYS TO MANAGE YOUR SKIN AFTER LASER HAIR REMOVAL TREATMENT
Since laser hair removal targets dark colors, it is best to avoid direct sunlight for at least a week after treatment because sunburn can cause discoloration of the skin. We would advise against using self-tanners or fake tan during this time as well as they can cause skin irritation and also discoloration.
It is recommended that you avoid foundation or heavy make up for a few days after treatment to help with the redness of your face if having laser hair removal done on this area. You may wish to purchase sunscreen specially formulated for use around your eyes, such as: Alumier Sheer Hydration UV Physical Broad-Spectrum SPF 40. Email us at email@example.com if you would like some more information.
After laser hair removal the skin may feel a little dry so I advise using a gentle moisturiser twice daily. You should continue to use sunscreen on the treated areas even if you are not going outside as ultraviolet radiation can still reach the skin with any sun exposure. That's all for now! Remember, if you have any questions or concerns be sure to speak with your laser hair removal technician before your treatment. www.calveo.co.uk Thanks for reading!
