Spots: Don’t Make This Mistake!

Spots: Don’t Make This Mistake!

A Personal Journey Through Skincare – Spots: Don’t make this mistake.

Hello, I’m Dr. Sunny Dhesi, and today I want to share with you a significant insight from my own experience with skincare, particularly how I managed my spots and the major mistakes I made along the way.

You can watch this week’s newsletter below or if you prefer you can continue reading.

The Misunderstood Impact of Over-Cleansing

In my early years, particularly during my time in the army and the periods that followed, I struggled with breakouts. The biggest mistake I made was over-cleansing with exfoliating cleansers and neglecting moisturisation. This habit, driven by a preference for the tight feeling post-cleansing, led to further dehydration and aggravated skin issues.

Correcting the Course

The turning point came when I realised the importance of moderation in skincare routines. Instead of daily exfoliation, I reduced it to two or three times a week, tailored to how my skin felt post-cleansing. This adjustment, along with consistent moisturisation, significantly improved my skin’s health and resilience.

Incorporating Mindfulness into Skincare

The Role of Hydrating Masks

Recently, my go-to skincare addition has been high-grade hydrating masks. These are especially useful post-procedures like IPL treatments and serve as an excellent tool for incorporating mindfulness into skincare routines. I encourage using these masks as a moment to relax, listen to alpha brainwave music, and practice mental relaxation techniques, enhancing both skin health and mental well-being.
