What are Skintags?

Skin tags, also known as acrochordons, are small, benign growths that commonly appear on the skin. They are usually flesh-colored or slightly darker and can range in size from just a few millimeters to a few centimeters. Skin tags are usually found in areas especially where there is skin-to-skin contact or friction, such as the neck, underarms, groin, and eyelids. They are made up of a core of fibers and ducts, nerve cells, and fat cells, and are usually painless, although they can be itchy or irritating. Skin tags are very common and are not usually a cause for concern. However, if a skin tag changes color, size, or shape, it is important to have it evaluated by a medical professional to rule out any underlying health issues.
